Dr. Mukai is Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) of Harvard University. He specializes in adult and pediatric vitreoretinal surgery, and is the director of the retina fellowship. His research interests include molecular genetics. Dr. Mukai is also actively involved in Japanese academic ophthalmology.

Dr. Robert Yanagisawa is Associate Professor of Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and is director of the endocrinology fellowship program. Dr. Yanagisawa is a board member of the Japanese Medical Society of America, and VP for membership development. He has medical licenses in both the US and Japan, and recently established a Mt. Sinai-Tokyo Women’s Medical University (TWMU) exchange program, and has been appointed Visiting Professor by TWMU.

Dr. Sonoda is a gynecologic oncologist at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He specializes in the surgical treatment of tumors of the female genital tract, and is a part of a multidisciplinary team of doctors who care for women with cancer.

Dr. Tagawa is Assistant Professor of Medicine and Urology and Assistant Attending Physician in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Weill Cornell Medical College. As a member of the Genitourinary Oncology team, he leads clinical trials in the areas of prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers.

Ms. Yoko Atsumi is a 5th year medical student at Kagoshima University in Japan. She is a recipient of the 2010 JMSA-Nishioka Foundation scholarship, which supported her work with the Sahara Fund Medical Mission.
