神奈川県生まれ。４歳からピアノを始める。
東京芸術大学音楽学部附属音楽高等学校卒業。2006年、「東京芸術大学同声会賞」ならびに「読売新人賞」を受賞し東京芸術大学を卒業。ピアノを角野裕、角野怜子、北川暁子、アレキサンダー・イエンナー、アイナー ステーン・ノックレベルク各氏、フォルテピアノを小倉貴久子氏に師事。
2005年から、財団法人ロームミュージックファンデーション奨学生としてドイツ・ハノーファー芸術大学にて研鑽を重ね、2007年ハノーファー芸術大学を卒業。現在、ハノーファー芸術大学ソリストディプロマコースに在籍するかたわら、ハノーファー芸術大学非常勤講師（伴奏助手）を務める。また、2007年にハノーファー芸術大学ピアノマスタークラスで講師を務める。これまでに日本、ドイツ、ロシア、ノルウェー、オーストリア、イタリア、ベルギー、アメリカなど各国でコンサートに出演。2010年には、横浜市招待国際ピアノ演奏会に出演した。

そのほか、数多くの国内外コンクールで入賞を果たす。
Mayumi Sakamoto
Born in Japan, Mayumi Sakamoto made her orchestral debut with her hometown orchestra at age 11. She graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai), and currently pursues post-graduate studies with Professor Einar Steen-Nokleberg at the Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Hannover (the University of Music and Drama Hanover) on a scholarship from the Rohm Music Foundation.
She won top prizes both at the 2004 Grieg International Piano Competition and at the XII “Pausilypon” Piano Contest International Edition 2007, and she was the 2nd Prize-winner of the Top of the World International Piano Competition, and at the XII Andorra International Piano Competition, the 4th Prize-winner of the 2006 Pinerolo International Piano Competition, a prize winner of the 2004 Scottish International Piano Competition, and of the 2003 Leeds International Pianoforte Competition, and a semi-finalist at the 2002 International Tchaikovsky Competition. She also received prizes at numerous piano competitions.
She has given solo recitals in Hannover, Oslo, Moscow, Salzburg, Italy, Belgium, U.S.A., and a number of cities in Japan. She was also invited as a lecturer in master class held by Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Hannover in 2007.
