JMSA held its 43rd Annual Spring Dinner on Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at the New York Athletic Club overlooking Central Park in New York City. The society was delighted to accommodate over 200 guests, including JMSA board members, healthcare professionals, scholarship recipients, students, and sponsors at the event.
The night began with a cocktail reception, followed by the dinner. Entertainment was provided by the Kay Matsukawa Quartet. Dr. Maki Kano and Dr. Robert Yanagisawa, co-chairs of the event, addressed the guests with opening remarks. Dr. Yuzuru Anzai, current president of JMSA, then continued to welcome guests, and proceeded to govern the voting of the 2015 JMSA Slate. The society is especially grateful for Mr. Reiichiro Takahashi, Ambassador and Consul-General of Japan in New York for his attendance and speech. JMSA scholarship awards were then presented by Dr. Robert Yanagisawa. Dr. Shintaro Yamada, scholarship recipient and the organizer of the recent JMSA New York Life Science Forum, gave a presentation of the forum. Dr. Takeshi Kanno of Tohoku University, chosen as one of the "100 most influential people in the world" by Time Magazine for his work immediately after the Earthquake in 2010, was introduced by Dr. Kamal Ramani. Dr. Kanno gave a speech thanking JMSA for the support of Tohoku area.
Overall, the JMSA 43rd Annual Spring Dinner was a tremendous success, and the society would like to express our deepest gratitude to those who attended, supported, and promoted the event. The society is grateful for the generous and continuous support provided by our sponsors, benefactors, and donors whom make JMSA events and scholarships possible.
